Innocence of a preschooler

As I was asking the children questions about their favorites for our monthly bulletin board I am once again reminded of just how special my job is. 

 I love that Cody has no idea what he wants to be when he grows up. And really why should he, he is only 4 after all. 

Then again at 3 Kloe a lady knows she wants to be a rock star. She has the personality for it too! Maybe she really will be a rock star in the future, or she may have picked a rock star because her sister wants to be one too. Who knows? I also love the fact that h favorite animal is sheep! Take that you lions and tigers in the world!

Then you have the opposite of Kloe in Halo. She did not say one word today, until her mom picked her up. And then she uttered words at the speed of sound! 

I like that Rylan wants to be a big cop, not just a cop.

I like that Allison listed a bunch of different animals and then followed it up with a career choice of 'a person that takes care of animals'. 

I like that Ethan is comfortable enough with me and himself to change the question. I don't like animals, I like robots. And boy does he ever. C-creep-io is his favorite, which explains the light saber career goal.

My favorite has to be Selah's answer though. When I grow up, I want to be.... A grown up. Don't we all? Isn't that what we should really be focused on? Teaching the children how to function, gain independence and social skills, so that one day they can all be grown ups?

First day of the school year

The first day of school means something different to everyone. For some parents it a relief that the summer months are over and a schedule is now being set. For other parents it is a painful reminder that life is short, another year has passed. For me it is an opportunity. 

An opportunity to show 25 children just how incredible knowledge is. An opportunity to make children excited about learning. An opportunity to instill confidence in 25 bright young minds. An opportunity to show 25 people that love and kindness are still two of the most important things on this Earth. An opportunity to join 25 families in a partnership where we learn and grow together with their child. 

For me it is an opportunity to renew my passion and share it with 25 more families.
