Inside Miss Kristin's Class

Good evening.

This is my first attempt at Blogging, so I appologize in advance as this will be a learning process. I'd like to start by telling you a little something about myself.

I am a forty something mother of two that was fortunate enough to meet the love of her life in high school. We have now been married over 25 years. With the youngest of our children nearing the end of her teen years it is such a joy to be able to spend my days with children ages 3 to 5.

I love my job as a preschool teacher, but it is so much more to me than just a job. I look at what I do  as a hobby and a community service as well. I think of it as a hobby because I spend a great deal of my free time researching, planning and creating new concepts, activities and items for my classroom. I do this because I enjoy it. I love those teachable moments, when we have been working on something new and you can see that spark happen.....and then.....the get it! They understand whatever it was that we were working towards, and you know there is no going back. That is true payment for all the time and money I spend, and worth every penny spent! I like to think of teaching as community service too. I am working to prepare the children in my class for the rest of their lives. Independance and confidence are two of the most important things I try to have each child in my class attain. We expose the children to new ideas and concepts and then stand back and watch as they try it for themselves. We praise their efforts and applaude where they succeed.

I know the importance of education, and the fact that the children in my class are just getting started on their education journey. I try to create an environment where children are excited to attend school each day, that it is something to look forward to. So please come back soon to see what's going on Inside Miss Kristin's Class.
